SQL Database Administrator

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain a SQL Server environment hosting multiple client databases

• Perform daily restore validation to ensure backup integrity and disaster recovery readiness

• Run and monitor DBCC integrity checks across databases on a scheduled basis

• Configure, automate, and maintain SQL Server Agent jobs for routine database operations

• Develop and maintain data-masking procedures for non-production/test environments to ensure data security and compliance

• Monitor and optimize database performance, including query tuning, index optimization, and execution plan analysis

• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, blocking, and deadlocks proactively

• Maintain backup and recovery strategy in line with business continuity requirements

• Maintain database security including login/user/role management and access controls

• Collaborate with development teams on database design, T-SQL scripting, and performance tuning

• Document database processes, incidents, and standard operating procedures

• Provide support for production issues, including on-call troubleshooting as required

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022)

• Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, and dynamic SQL

• Strong understanding of query optimization, indexing strategies, and execution plan analysis

• Experience with SQL Server Agent job scheduling and automation

• Solid understanding of backup/restore strategies, and database integrity validation

• Familiarity with data masking/data security practices for compliance-sensitive environments

• Knowledge of SQL Server security model (logins, users, roles, permissions)

• Experience troubleshooting blocking, deadlocks, and performance bottlenecks

• Working knowledge of high availability/disaster recovery concepts.
