1. Room & Area InspectionsInspect guest rooms, corridors, public areas before and after cleaningCheck room readiness – amenities, linen, minibar, HVAC, plumbing, electronicsEnsure brand standards for cleanliness, presentation, and setup are metApprove rooms for guest check-in and report discrepancies to maintenance2. Team Supervision & TrainingAssign duties and floor sections to room attendants and housemen dailyMonitor staff performance – speed, quality, grooming, SOP adherenceTrain new staff on cleaning procedures, chemical usage, safety protocolsConduct briefings – share occupancy, VIPs, special requests, prioritiesHandle staff attendance, leaves, and shift scheduling3. Inventory & SuppliesTrack linen, guest supplies, cleaning chemicals – maintain par stock levelsIssue supplies to staff and record consumption dailyRaise indents for replenishment and coordinate with stores/purchasingControl costs – minimize linen loss, chemical wastage, damageMaintain lost & found register and coordinate returns with front office4. Guest & Inter-Department CoordinationHandle guest complaints related to room cleanliness, maintenance, requestsCoordinate with Front Office for room status, early check-ins, late check-outsReport maintenance issues to Engineering and follow up until resolvedWork with Laundry for timely linen flow and quality checks5. Administration & ComplianceMaintain reports – room status, productivity, deep cleaning schedules, PMS updatesEnforce hygiene & safety standards – PPE, chemical handling, HACCPConduct deep cleaning projects – carpets, upholstery, windows, spring cleaningEnsure key control and security of master keys/cardsKey Skills NeededEye for detail and high cleanliness standardsLeadership to manage 10-20 attendants per shiftTime management during high occupancy/check-out rushKnowledge of chemicals, equipment, and linen handlingBasic computer skills for PMS/Opera/IDS reportsIn hotels, this is the stepping stone to Assistant Housekeeper → Executive Housekeeper.
