Computer Operator

Key responsibilities

• System monitoring: Oversee computer systems, networks, and peripheral equipment to detect and respond to errors or malfunctions.

• System operation: Input commands, run programs, and ensure operations are completed on time according to schedules.

• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve basic hardware and software problems, and report more complex issues to the appropriate technical staff.

• Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, such as cleaning equipment, installing software updates, and managing printer supplies.

• Data management: Enter and update data in databases, ensure data accuracy and integrity, and perform regular backups.

• User support: Respond to user inquiries and provide assistance with basic computer issues.

• Documentation: Maintain logs of activities, tasks performed, and system changes.

• Security: Help secure computer systems and networks. 

Key skills and qualifications

• Technical knowledge: Understanding of computer hardware, software, networks, and databases.

• Problem-solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

• Attention to detail: Meticulousness in data entry and system monitoring to ensure accuracy.

• Communication: Good oral and written communication skills to interact with users and colleagues.

• Time management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines.

• Software proficiency: Experience with data entry, Microsoft Office Suite, and various database management systems.

• Experience: Proven experience as a computer operator or in a similar role.
