About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and result-oriented Business Development Executive to drive sales growth by identifying business opportunities, managing client relationships, handling GeM portal activities, and engaging with Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), government departments, and corporate clients. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, strong negotiation abilities, and a passion for achieving business targets.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. GeM Portal Management
Search and identify relevant GeM bids, BOQs, and tenders.
Prepare and submit bids on the GeM portal within specified timelines.
Coordinate with internal teams for pricing, product specifications, and documentation.
Track bid status and follow up until order finalization.
Maintain accurate records of all GeM activities and submissions.
2. PSU & Government Client Calling
Conduct outbound calls to PSUs, government departments, and institutional buyers.
Identify procurement requirements and upcoming purchase opportunities.
Build and maintain relationships with purchase officers and decision-makers.
Schedule meetings, product presentations, and follow-up discussions.
Regularly update the client database and call reports.
3. Lead Generation & Client Acquisition
Generate new business leads through cold calling, email campaigns, LinkedIn, and market research.
Identify potential customers and convert leads into business opportunities.
Develop long-term relationships with new and existing clients.
Expand the company's customer base across government and corporate sectors.
4. Sales & Business Development
Promote the company's products and services to prospective clients.
Prepare quotations, proposals, presentations, and business documents.
Negotiate commercial terms and assist in closing sales.
Work towards achieving monthly and quarterly sales targets.
5. Market Research
Research market trends, competitors, government procurement policies, and PSU requirements.
Identify upcoming business opportunities and procurement plans.
Provide strategic inputs to enhance business growth.
6. Client Relationship Management
Maintain continuous communication with existing clients.
Resolve client queries and ensure timely support.
Build strong professional relationships to encourage repeat business.
7. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain records of leads, client interactions, quotations, bids, and sales activities.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly business development reports.
Update CRM/Excel sheets with accurate business information.
8. Business Growth Initiatives
Participate in exhibitions, trade fairs, vendor meets, and networking events.
Support management in developing new business strategies.
Contribute towards achieving organizational revenue and growth objectives.
Required Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of the GeM Portal and government procurement process.
Experience in PSU/Government sales and institutional marketing.
Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint.
Ability to prepare quotations, proposals, and bid documentation.
Good analytical and market research skills.
Target-oriented with strong follow-up abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce, or a related field.
1–3 years of experience in Business Development, GeM bidding, Government Sales, or PSU sales.
Experience in handling institutional clients and government procurement will be preferred.
