Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Driving and Transportation Duties
Drive hospital vehicles (ambulance / official vehicles) safely and responsibly.
Transport patients, doctors, staff, and hospital materials as assigned.
Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off as per schedule or emergency requirements.
Follow traffic rules and hospital transport policies at all times.
2. Ambulance Services (if applicable)
Operate ambulance vehicles during emergencies and patient transfers.
Assist medical staff during patient loading and unloading.
Ensure availability of basic ambulance equipment and supplies.
Maintain calm and safe driving during emergency situations.
3. Vehicle Maintenance and Cleanliness
Ensure daily cleaning and hygiene of the vehicle interior and exterior.
Conduct routine checks: fuel, oil, coolant, brakes, lights, and tires.
Report mechanical issues immediately to the administration or maintenance team.
Coordinate vehicle servicing, repairs, and fitness checks.
4. Safety and Compliance
Ensure vehicle documents (RC, insurance, pollution certificate, permit) are valid and updated.
Follow hospital safety protocols and patient confidentiality guidelines.
Use seat belts and ensure passenger safety at all times.
Adhere to infection control practices when transporting patients.
5. Record Keeping and Reporting
Maintain vehicle logbook including trips, mileage, fuel usage, and timings.
Record emergency trips and special assignments accurately.
Report accidents, breakdowns, or incidents immediately to authorities and hospital management.
6. Coordination and Support
Coordinate with ER, nursing staff, and administration for transport requirements.
Assist in shifting patients, samples, or documents as needed.
Support hospital operations during emergencies, night shifts, and special events.
7. General Duties
Maintain professional behaviour and courteous communication with patients and staff.
Be flexible with duty hours, including night shifts and emergencies.
Follow instructions from administration and duty managers.
