Reporting To: Program Manager / Project Coordinator

1. Position Overview

The Psychologist at Sevalaya will provide psychological assessment, counseling, emotional support, and mental health interventions to beneficiaries, including children, youth, women, elderly, and community groups. The role includes developing mental health programs, conducting workshops, and supporting Sevalaya’s mission of holistic community development.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Counseling & Therapeutic Support

• Provide individual and group counseling sessions to beneficiaries.

• Address concerns such as trauma, stress, behavioral issues, emotional difficulties, academic challenges, family conflict, and social adjustment.

• Develop and implement personalized care plans for clients.

• Maintain confidentiality and ethical psychological practices.

B. Assessment & Intervention

• Conduct psychological assessments, screening, and behavioral evaluations.

• Identify high-risk cases and provide appropriate interventions or referrals.

• Document case histories, progress notes, and follow-up plans.

C. Community Mental Health Initiatives

• Organize awareness programs, workshops, and life-skills training on topics like emotional well-being, stress management, child development, women’s mental health, etc.

• Develop age-appropriate mental health material for community use.

D. Capacity Building

• Train staff, caregivers, teachers, and volunteers on basic counseling skills, child protection, and mental health awareness.

• Support the team in identifying mental health concerns among beneficiaries.

E. Collaboration & Reporting

• Work closely with project teams, social workers, teachers, and healthcare professionals.

• Prepare detailed reports, maintain case files, and contribute to donor reporting.

• Support monitoring and evaluation of mental health programs.

3. Required Qualifications

Education

• Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or related field.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in counseling (NGO or community experience preferred).

• Freshers with strong internship experience may be considered.

Skills

• Strong counseling and communication skills.

• Empathy, patience, and ability to work with vulnerable groups.

• Knowledge of child psychology, trauma-informed care, and community mental health.

• Ability to manage documentation and case files effectively.

• Fluency in English and local language
