A Collection Executive is responsible for recovering overdue payments and outstanding debts from individuals or businesses while following company policies and legal guidelines. [1]

Core Roles and Responsibilities

• Debt Recovery: Contact customers with delinquent or overdue accounts via phone calls, emails, text messages, or direct field visits to collect payments. [1, 2]

• Payment Negotiation: Work with debtors to set up realistic installment plans, extensions, or structured settlements. [1, 3, 4]

• Account Monitoring: Track aging reports and portfolios of assigned overdue accounts to spot payment defaults early. [2, 3, 4]

• Dispute Resolution: Investigate billing errors, missing transaction data, or customer complaints that block payment. [1, 3, 5]

• Record Keeping: Log every call, message, promise-to-pay date, and payment transaction accurately into the CRM or accounting software. [2, 6, 7]

• Reporting: Share daily, weekly, and monthly collection status updates and recovery metrics with managers or finance teams. [1, 2, 4]

• Legal Escalation: Forward chronic default or uncooperative cases to legal departments or senior management for repossession or formal action. [2, 6, 8]

• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to local consumer protection and financial debt-collection laws. [6, 8, 9]
