An Academic Counsellor guides students through their educational journeys by helping them select courses, plan careers, and overcome academic challenges. Depending on the institution (schools, universities, or ed-tech platforms), the role often blends advising with business development, student enrollment, and admissions support.

Key Responsibilities

• Academic Planning: Assist students in selecting appropriate subjects, majors, and course schedules to meet graduation requirements.

• Student Support & Intervention: Monitor student progress, identify learning or behavioral roadblocks, and develop actionable improvement plans.

• Career & University Guidance: Help students set professional goals, explore higher education options, and navigate the university application process.

• Admissions & Enrollment: (Primarily for coaching centers and ed-tech companies) Lead structured counseling or demo sessions, generate leads, and convert inquiries into enrollments.

• Collaboration: Work closely with faculty, parents, and administrators to address individual student needs and organize skill-building workshops.

• Record Keeping: Maintain confidential, accurate files on student progress, assessment results, and counseling interactions.

Core Requirements

• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field; a Master's degree or counseling certifications are typically preferred.

• Experience: Previous experience in academic counseling, education administration, or B2C educational sales.

• Skills: Excellent active listening, empathy, problem-solving, and communication skills.
