Curry Root is seeking a skilled and passionate Commi I – Chinese Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Chinese cuisine, strong knowledge of wok handling, sauces, and authentic Chinese cooking techniques. You will work closely with the Head Chef to deliver consistent, high-quality dishes and maintain the company’s culinary standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, cook, and present authentic Chinese dishes as per menu and company standards.

• Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in planning and executing daily kitchen operations.

• Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control.

• Ensure proper use of kitchen equipment such as woks, steamers, fryers, and grills.

• Monitor and maintain hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards in the kitchen.

• Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) for raw materials and ingredients.

• Support in menu innovation, recipe development, and seasonal specials.

• Train and mentor junior kitchen staff when required.

• Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Commi I – Chinese Chef or similar role in a professional kitchen.

  • Expertise in wok cooking, dim sum, stir fry, sauces, and traditional Chinese preparations.

  • Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure.

  • Team player with a positive attitude and strong communication skills.

  • Flexibility to work in shifts, weekends, and holidays.
