The Hotel Cashier is responsible for managing guest payments and hotel revenue transactions accurately and efficiently. They ensure billing, receipts, and financial records are maintained properly, handling cash, credit cards, and other payment modes while maintaining strong customer service.
Process all guest payments (room charges, food & beverage, amenities, etc.) via cash, credit/debit cards, UPI, digital wallets, or other accepted methods.
Issue receipts, invoices, and refunds where necessary.
Prepare and present guest bills at check-out, ensuring all services are properly recorded.
Maintain and reconcile the cash drawer / float at the beginning and end of shifts.
Generate daily cash reports, including any discrepancies (overages / shortages).
Deposit cash or cheques in hotel bank or safe, following security & hotel policy.
Manage petty cash transactions; record and track petty cash usage.
Coordinate with front desk, housekeeping, F&B, accounting departments to ensure billing is correct.
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation for auditing.
Monitor currency exchange rates if applicable; handle foreign currency transactions.
Ensure compliance with hotel policies, financial regulations, and fraud prevention methods.
Handle guest/customer inquiries about bills, clarify charges, resolve disputes politely and professionally.
Maintain cleanliness and order of cashier’s area; ensure all cash handling tools (e.g. POS, registers) are functioning.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Educational qualification: At least 12th grade pass; degree/diploma in Finance / Accounting / Hospitality is a plus.
Experience: 1-3 years as cashier or in a similar role in hotels / restaurants / retail preferred.
Good communication skills (verbal & written).
Strong numeracy & attention to detail.
Trustworthy, honest, and responsible.
Proficiency in POS systems, cash handling, digital payment systems.
Basic computer skills (MS Excel, Word) and optionally hotel billing software.
Ability to work under pressure, especially during busy hours.
Good customer service attitude.
Presentable appearance; polite & professional demeanor.
