Store Purchaser – Job Description

Job Summary

We are looking for a Store Purchaser who will be responsible for purchasing stock, supplies, and inventory required for the banquet. The ideal candidate should have strong negotiation skills, good market knowledge, and the ability to identify quality products at competitive prices.

Key Responsibilities

Purchase food, beverage, housekeeping, banquet, kitchen, and general store requirements as per business needs.

Source products from reliable vendors and suppliers.

Negotiate prices, quality, credit terms, delivery schedules, and other commercial terms with suppliers.

Maintain strong knowledge of local markets, suppliers, and prevailing prices.

Compare quotations and select the best option based on price, quality, and availability.

Ensure timely procurement so that banquet operations are not affected due to shortage of stock.

Check purchase requirements and coordinate with the Store/Operations team.

Monitor stock levels and arrange replenishment whenever required.

Develop and maintain good relationships with existing and new vendors.

Verify quantity and quality of purchased goods at the time of receiving.

Maintain proper purchase records, bills, quotations, and supplier details.

Identify opportunities to reduce purchasing costs without compromising on quality.

Follow company purchasing policies and approval procedures.

Coordinate with accounts and stores regarding purchase bills, payments, and inventory.

Regularly visit markets when required to check rates, quality, and availability.

Key Skills Required

Excellent negotiation and bargaining skills

Strong knowledge of local markets and supplier networks

Good understanding of purchase and inventory management

Ability to compare prices and quotations

Good vendor management skills

Strong communication and follow-up skills

Ability to work under pressure and manage urgent requirements

Basic knowledge of MS Excel and purchase documentation

Honest, responsible, and commercially aware

Preferred Candidate

Experience in banquets, hotels, restaurants, hospitality, catering, or similar businesses will be preferred.

Candidates with good market contacts and strong supplier relationships will be an advantage.

Practical knowledge of purchasing and market rates is more important than just theoretical knowledge.

Ideal Candidate: Someone who knows the market well, can negotiate strongly, finds the right vendors, controls purchase costs, and ensures the banquet always has the required stock and supplies on time.
