Computer Operator

A computer operator maintains, monitors, and controls computer systems and peripheral equipment to ensure smooth daily operations. They are responsible for processing scheduled batch jobs, backing up data, troubleshooting hardware or software errors, and assisting users with technical issues.

Key Responsibilities

• System Monitoring: Oversee multi-system information networks and respond to system error messages or stoppages.

• Job Scheduling & Processing: Manually submit, execute, and monitor batch processing jobs according to defined production schedules.

• Data Management: Perform regular data backups to prevent data loss and maintain data integrity across company databases.

• Hardware Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance on equipment (e.g., servers, printers, and scanners) and coordinate repairs when needed.

• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve basic hardware, software, and network connectivity problems.

• User Support & Documentation: Assist users with inquiries, troubleshoot problems, and maintain logs of daily system activities and incidents.

• Security Compliance: Follow established security protocols to protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized system access.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Windows, UNIX, Linux) and database management tools.

• Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to data entry, record keeping, and monitoring production runs.

• Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly assess technical malfunctions and recover program operations in high-pressure situations.

• Communication: Strong oral communication and collaboration skills to coordinate with IT teams and system users.
