Job Summary

We are looking for a creative, technically skilled, and detail-oriented Interior Designer who can effectively manage interior design projects from concept development to production and execution.

The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3Ds Max, space planning, furniture detailing, modular furniture, materials, finishes, and working drawings. The candidate should also be capable of coordinating with clients, the sales team, production department, vendors, site supervisors, and installation teams to ensure accurate execution of approved designs.

The Interior Designer will be responsible for converting client requirements into practical and aesthetically appealing designs while ensuring that all drawings are technically feasible for manufacturing and site execution.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Client Requirement & Design Understanding

• Understand clients' requirements, preferences, lifestyle, budget, space limitations, and functional needs.

• Study site measurements, layouts, photographs, and other project-related information before beginning the design process.

• Convert client requirements into practical and aesthetically appealing interior concepts.

• Recommend suitable layouts, materials, finishes, colors, furniture styles, and design solutions.

• Incorporate client feedback and make necessary revisions until final design approval.

2. Space Planning & Concept Development

• Prepare effective space-planning solutions for residential and commercial projects.

• Develop furniture layouts and interior concepts according to available space and client requirements.

• Ensure proper circulation, functionality, ergonomics, accessibility, storage utilization, and visual balance.

• Develop concepts for areas such as:

  • Modular kitchens

  • Wardrobes

  • Bedrooms

  • Living rooms

  • TV units

  • Dressing units

  • Study units

  • Storage units

  • Office furniture

  • Customized furniture

  • Doors and other woodwork

3. 2D & Technical Drawings

• Prepare accurate 2D drawings using AutoCAD.

• Develop detailed working drawings required for production and site execution.

• Prepare:

  • Furniture layouts

  • Floor plans

  • Elevations

  • Sections

  • Detailed furniture drawings

  • Modular kitchen drawings

  • Wardrobe drawings

  • Ceiling layouts, wherever required

  • Production/shop drawings

  • Installation drawings

• Ensure that all dimensions, levels, materials, hardware, finishes, and construction details are clearly mentioned in drawings.

• Verify drawings thoroughly before releasing them for production.

4. 3D Designing & Visualization

• Develop professional 3D models and interior visualizations using SketchUp, 3Ds Max, or other relevant software.

• Create realistic presentations that clearly communicate the proposed design to clients.

• Apply appropriate materials, textures, colors, lighting, furniture, and finishes to 3D models.

• Modify 3D designs based on client and management feedback.

• Ensure that approved 3D designs are practically achievable during production and execution.

5. Modular Furniture Designing

The candidate should have a good understanding of modular furniture and customized woodwork, including:

• Modular kitchens

• Wardrobes

• TV units

• Crockery units

• Vanities

• Storage units

• Office furniture

• Beds and side tables

• Customized cabinets and furniture

• Doors and related woodwork

The designer should understand internal cabinet configurations, shutters, drawers, shelving arrangements, hardware placement, clearances, and practical manufacturing requirements.

6. Material & Hardware Knowledge

The candidate should have working knowledge of materials commonly used in interior and modular furniture projects, including:

• Plywood

• MDF

• HDF/HMR boards

• Particle boards

• Laminates

• Veneers

• Acrylic

• Glass and mirrors

• PVC and related materials

• Decorative panels

• Edge bands

• Paint and polish finishes

The candidate should also understand basic furniture hardware, such as:

• Hinges

• Drawer channels

• Tandem drawers

• Handles and profiles

• Lift-up fittings

• Kitchen accessories

• Wardrobe accessories

• Sliding mechanisms

• Cabinet fittings and other furniture hardware

7. Site Measurement & Coordination

• Visit project sites whenever required for measurements, verification, and execution coordination.

• Take accurate site measurements before preparing final production drawings.

• Cross-check measurements before releasing drawings for manufacturing.

• Identify site-related challenges that may affect furniture installation or design.

• Coordinate with site supervisors and installation teams to resolve design-related issues.

• Ensure that execution is carried out according to approved drawings.

8. Production Coordination

• Coordinate closely with the production team to ensure that approved designs can be manufactured accurately.

• Provide clear production drawings with complete dimensions and specifications.

• Discuss technical feasibility with production supervisors before finalizing complicated furniture designs.

• Resolve production-related design queries promptly.

• Make necessary drawing corrections if discrepancies are identified during manufacturing.

• Ensure that design intent is maintained from drawing to final production.

9. Sales & CRM Coordination

• Coordinate with the Sales and CRM teams to understand customer requirements and project commitments.

• Support the sales team with layouts, design concepts, presentations, and technical information whenever required.

• Ensure that all customer-approved changes are properly documented and communicated to the concerned departments.

• Avoid unauthorized design changes after client approval.

10. BOQ & Material Specifications

• Assist in preparing or verifying the Bill of Quantities (BOQ) wherever required.

• Prepare material and finish specifications for approved projects.

• Provide accurate information regarding furniture dimensions, materials, hardware, and finishes.

• Coordinate with relevant departments to minimize errors, material wastage, and discrepancies.

11. Project Documentation

Maintain proper project documentation, including:

• Client requirements

• Site measurements

• Design concepts

• 2D drawings

• 3D designs

• Approved drawings

• Drawing revisions

• Material selections

• Finish selections

• Client approvals

• Production drawings

• Site-related modifications

All project files should be properly named, organized, updated, and stored for future reference.

12. Quality & Accuracy

• Maintain high accuracy in all drawings and dimensions.

• Ensure that designs comply with approved specifications and company quality standards.

• Check drawings thoroughly before releasing them to production or site.

• Minimize errors that could result in material wastage, production delays, rework, or installation problems.

• Take responsibility for the technical accuracy of drawings prepared and released.

Required Software Skills

The candidate should have proficiency or good working knowledge of:

• AutoCAD – Mandatory

• SketchUp – Mandatory/Preferred

• 3Ds Max – Preferred

• Rendering software such as V-Ray / Enscape / Lumion – Preferred

• MS Excel and MS Office – Basic working knowledge

Knowledge of additional furniture-design or production software will be considered an advantage.

Educational Qualification

Preferred Qualification:

• Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Interior Designing

• Bachelor's Degree in Interior Architecture

• Diploma/Degree in Architecture or a related field

Candidates with strong practical experience and an excellent design portfolio may also be considered.

Experience

Preferred Experience: 1–3 years in Interior Designing / Modular Furniture / Furniture Manufacturing / Interior Execution.

Candidates with relevant experience in a modular furniture manufacturing company will be given preference.
