Senior Credit Risk Management Specialist

Subject Matter Expert, Credit Management Main purpose We are seeking to hire a highly analytical and driven professional to join our Credit Team in Mumbai, as a senior experienced member within the existing team. The successful candidate will work as part of a group responsible for reviewing and approving credit risk associated with complex transactions across multiple products and business segments, largely focusing on European Gas & Power. The role will involve evaluating credit and performance risks on both short-dated and longer-tenor trades, negotiating directly with external counterparties, and collaborating closely with commercial teams to ensure that exposures remain within acceptable limits. This will include the use of appropriate credit risk-mitigation tools and structures where required. Key responsibilities Credit Reviews & Analysis: Assist the team in conduction credit reviews (Annual & Adhocs), work to involves the assessment & recommendation of internal credit limit appetite and assignment of internal credit ratings through business, financial and industry risk assessment. Credit Risk Management: Required to manage portfolio of clients by also providing support to evaluate derivative transactions to mitigate risk, helping in identifying key systemic & idiosyncratic risks effecting the portfolio. Help the global credit officers in tracking market developments and other events on a regular basis. Being on top of the exposure and overdues related to the portfolio. This work also includes Liaising with traders to understand the commercial relationship and determine the risk appetite of the assigned counterparts Speaking to customers to obtain information / understand their business profile versus peer group. Working with internal teams and clients for regular negotiation of documentation in relation to the European Gas & Power World (ISDA, EFET, CSA Provisions) Credit Risk Administration: Assist the wide team in managing the credit exposure & data on our central and monitor and be involved in adhoc projects related to management reporting of the key credit portfolios. Working with risk mitigation providers – bank/insurance markets as part of the credit management process Required qualifications Experience: 8-12 years of experience in credit risk roles within a blue-chip bank, trading house, or financial institution Preferred qualifications System – Proficient in Excel, Power Point and Word/Outlook. Skills on SQL, Python, Power BI etc would be a great add-on. Also competency over tools like S&P Capital IQ, Bloomberg etc. Handled Mid & large corporate clients Qualification: Either of MBA (for a renowned institution) / CA (First Attempt Pass) / CFA (All levels cleared, First Attempt) / FRM Attributes for success Mature individual with an ability to assimilate lots of information, think clearly & make recommendations &s presentations in a clear and concise manner. Reliable & thorough in the work, with an eye for detail; hard working and flexible and ability to work in a stressed environment; responsible Proven ability to build and analyse cash flow models and financial analysis, including stress scenario testing Strong communication skills both verbal and written to be applied also during meetings/calls with client Department overview The Credit Management function sits within Trafigura's Risk Function and is responsible for managing counterparty credit risk across the firm's global trading activities. The team safeguards Trafigura's balance sheet by assessing, monitoring, and controlling credit exposures arising from physical and derivative trading across all commodities and regions. The department operates globally with senior leadership in Geneva and regional coverage across various hubs such as North America, South America, China, South East Asia and other key trading hubs. It works closely with Trading, Trade Finance, Operations, and the broader Risk function (Market Risk, Operational Risk & Internal Control) to ensure credit decisions are aligned with Trafigura's risk appetite and commercial strategy.
