We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced Senior Industrial Accountant to oversee plant-level financial accounting, cost management, inventory control, and operational reporting.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between manufacturing operations and financial strategy. You will be responsible for standard costing, WIP and inventory valuation, operational variance analysis, capital expenditure tracking, and month-end closing processes. The ideal candidate possesses deep domain expertise in cost accounting, US GAAP/IFRS, and ERP systems, with a track record of driving process improvements and cost efficiency in a manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cost Accounting & Variance Analysis

• Maintain, analyze, and update standard cost systems for raw materials, direct labor, and manufacturing overhead (MOH).

• Perform detailed monthly variance analyses, including:

  • Material Price & Usage Variances (BOM integrity)

  • Labor Efficiency & Rate Variances

  • Overhead Absorption & Volume Variances

  • Yield & Scrap Variances

• Partner with plant managers and production engineers to investigate operational anomalies and identify root causes of cost overruns.

• Evaluate product margin profitability by SKU, product line, and production run.

2. Inventory Control & Valuation

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory valuation procedures for Raw Materials, Work-in-Progress (WIP), and Finished Goods.

• Oversee lower-of-cost-or-net-realizable-value (NRV) assessments and manage reserves for slow-moving, excess, and obsolete (SLOB) inventory.

• Audit and reconcile physical inventory counts and cycle counts against General Ledger (GL) balances.

• Reconcile inventory scrap, waste, and material reclassifications.

3. Plant Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

• Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process for manufacturing operations within strict deadlines.

• Prepare and post journal entries related to inventory, accrued liabilities, freight, utility allocations, and depreciation.

• Perform complex GL account reconciliations (e.g., Goods Received/Invoice Received [GR/IR], inventory clearing accounts, CapEx).

• Prepare plant operational financial packages, summarizing gross margin results, absorption levels, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

4. Capital Expenditure (CapEx) & Fixed Assets

• Manage the Fixed Asset Register (FAR) for machinery, tooling, equipment, and facility improvements.

• Track Construction-in-Progress (CIP) accounts and ensure timely capitalization of plant assets upon commissioning.

• Conduct post-investment reviews and return-on-investment (ROI) analysis for capital projects.

5. Budgeting, Forecasting & Audit Support

• Collaborate with the Finance Lead to prepare annual operational budgets and periodic financial re-forecasts.

• Assist in establishing plant cost-center budgets and monitoring spending against allowances.

• Serve as the primary plant liaison for internal and external auditors regarding cost accounting, inventory valuation, and fixed assets.

• Ensure full compliance with internal controls (SOX / internal audit guidelines).

Required Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

Technical Knowledge Base

• Advanced Cost Accounting Systems: Mastery of standard costing, activity-based costing (ABC), and job/process costing models.

• Accounting Standards: Deep working knowledge of US GAAP / IFRS as applied to inventory valuation (ASC 330 / IAS 2), fixed assets (ASC 360 / IAS 16), and revenue recognition.

• ERP Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in major ERP systems (SAP S/4HANA - CO/MM/FI modules, Oracle ERP, or Microsoft Dynamics 365).

• Financial Modeling & Excel: Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, Power Query, pivot tables, scenario modeling).
