Job Description – Accountant (Tax & Finalisation) – Tax Consulting Firm

Position: Accountant / Senior Accountant
Department: Accounts & Taxation
Reporting To: Partner / Manager
Location: (Office Location)

Job Summary

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Accountant with strong knowledge of accounts finalisation, taxation, and team management. The candidate will be responsible for handling client accounts, supervising the accounting team, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and managing end-to-end financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounts & Finalisation

• Preparation and finalisation of books of accounts for companies, LLPs, partnership firms, and proprietorships.

• Preparation of financial statements – Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Account, and schedules.

• Reviewing ledgers, reconciliation of accounts, and ensuring accuracy of financial records.

• Passing year-end adjustment entries and preparing working papers.

• Valuations.

2. Taxation Compliance

• Preparation and filing of Income Tax Returns (ITR) , Tax Audits for individuals, firms, LLPs, and companies.

• Handling TDS compliance, including return filing and reconciliation with Form 26Q/24Q.

• Working knowledge of GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, annual return, reconciliation).

• Handling tax notices, scrutiny matters, and responding to departmental queries.

3. Client Management

• Coordination with clients for accounting data, documents, and clarifications.

• Advising clients on tax compliance and statutory requirements.

• Ensuring timely completion of assignments and filings.

4. Team Management

• Supervising and managing a team of accountants and trainees.

• Allocating work and monitoring progress of assignments.

• Reviewing work done by team members and ensuring quality control.

• Training junior staff on accounting and compliance matters.

5. Compliance & Reporting

• Ensuring adherence to statutory deadlines and regulatory requirements.

• Preparation of MIS reports and financial analysis where required.

• Maintaining documentation and audit trails for client records.

Qualification

• B.Com / M.Com / CA Inter / Semi-Qualified CA preferred/CMA and CA Drop out if any.

• Additional certification in GST or taxation will be an advantage.

Experience

• 3–7 years of experience in a CA firm / tax consulting firm.

• Experience in accounts finalization and handling multiple clients.

Skills Required

• Strong knowledge of Tally, Excel, and accounting software.

• Good understanding of Income Tax, TDS, and GST laws.

• Leadership and team management skills.

• Good communication and client handling ability.

• Ability to work under deadlines.
