The Hotel Accountant is responsible for maintaining the financial health of the property. This includes managing daily financial transactions, ensuring accurate reporting, and collaborating with various departments (F&B, Front Office, Housekeeping) to monitor costs and optimize revenue.

​Key Responsibilities

• ​Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly profit and loss (P&L) statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports for the General Manager and ownership.

• ​Revenue Audit: Reconcile daily revenue from all outlets (rooms, restaurants, bars) and investigate any discrepancies or "shortages" in cash drops.

• ​Cost Control: Monitor operational expenses such as food costs, laundry, and utilities. Work with the Chef and Purchasing Manager to ensure inventory is managed efficiently.

• ​Payroll Management: Process complex payroll, often involving varying shifts, service charges, tips, and seasonal staff.

• ​Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage vendor payments and follow up on outstanding "city ledger" accounts (corporate bookings or event balances).

• ​Tax Compliance: Ensure timely payment of GST/VAT, occupancy taxes, and income tax filings.

• ​Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in preparing the annual budget and providing monthly forecasts to predict future room occupancy and revenue trends.
