Job Summary
The Accounting Manager oversees the financial operations and statutory compliance of the HVAC business. This role manages job costing, Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting, accounts receivable/payable, financial reporting, and end-to-end statutory obligations including GST filing, Income Tax Return (ITR) preparation, EPF, and ESI compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
Manage full-cycle accounting, month-end closing, and annual financial statement preparation.
Maintain Work in Progress (WIP) schedules, over/under billings, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition for HVAC projects.
Reconcile bank accounts, ledger entries, and COGS monthly.
GST & Direct Tax Compliance
Prepare and file monthly/quarterly GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B) and annual returns (GSTR-9).
Perform Input Tax Credit (ITC) reconciliations against GSTR-2B to maximize tax credits and handle blockages.
Ensure accurate GST applicability on mixed supplies (HVAC service contracts vs. equipment sales).
Prepare tax computation data for corporate ITR filings and assist external CPAs/Auditors during Tax Audits (Section 44AB).
Manage Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) calculations, quarterly returns (Form 26Q/27Q), and Form 16/16A generation.
Payroll & Statutory Compliance (EPF & ESI)
Calculate and process monthly EPF contributions based on statutory wage ceilings (capped at ₹15,000 basic/DA or actual basic).
Calculate and process ESI deductions for employees within the gross wage ceiling (≤ ₹21,000/month) at standard rates (0.75% employee / 3.25% employer).
Generate and file monthly EPF ECR challans and ESI monthly returns within statutory deadlines.
Maintain statutory registers, inspect compliance records, and resolve queries on the EPFO and ESIC portals.
AR, AP & Job Costing
Oversee progress billings (AIA G702/G703 format), retainage tracking, and technician field collection accounting.
Track direct labor, material, equipment rentals, and van stock inventory against project budgets.
Supervise Accounts Payable, purchase orders, and vendor invoice matching.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in Commerce (B.Com/M.Com), MBA (Finance), or CA Inter / CMA Inter.
Experience: 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within HVAC, MEP contracting, plumbing, or trade construction.
Statutory Knowledge:
Demonstrated expertise in GST portal operations, ITC reconciliation, and GSTR filing.
Hands-on experience with EPFO unified portal, ESIC employer portal, and monthly ECR generation.
Strong command over Income Tax provisions, TDS rates, and tax return filing workflows.
Software Proficiency:
Accounting: Tally Prime, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or NetSuite.
Field/ERP Software: ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, or equivalent HVAC management software mapped to ERP.
Skills: In-depth understanding of WIP accounting, job-cost variance analysis, MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, statutory formulas), and team management.
