1. Surveillance and Patrol

• Active Patrolling: Regularly walking or driving around the premises to check doors, windows, gates, and fences for signs of tampering or damage.

• Monitoring Systems: Watching live feeds from security cameras (CCTV) and keeping an eye on alarm systems for any unusual activity.

• Identifying Hazards: Looking out for safety risks like fire hazards, leaking pipes, or blocked emergency exits.

2. Access Control and Gatekeeping

• Verifying Identity: Checking the IDs, badges, or credentials of employees, visitors, and vendors before letting them enter.

• Visitor Management: Having visitors sign in, issuing guest passes, and directing them to their proper destinations.

• Inspecting Vehicles/Baggage: Checking incoming and outgoing vehicles or bags to prevent theft or smuggling of contraband, depending on company policy.

3. Prevention and Deterrence

• Visible Presence: Being a highly visible deterrent to prevent theft, vandalism, trespassing, or violence.

• Enforcing Policies: Ensuring that everyone on the property follows the company’s rules, such as wearing proper safety gear or adhering to no-smoking zones.

4. Incident Response and Emergency Handling

• Quick Intervention: Responding rapidly to alarms, medical emergencies, or physical altercations.

• Calling for Reinforcements: Contacting police, fire departments, or medical services immediately during a major crisis.

• Crowd Control: Directing people safely out of a building during a fire drill or real evacuation.

5. Documentation and Reporting

• Daily Logs: Keeping a written or digital record of daily activities, noting anything unusual.

• Incident Reports: Writing detailed, accurate reports when a theft, injury, or property damage occurs. These are often used by management or insurance companies.
