Duties and Responsibilities of a Security Guard at a Private Company
A Security Guard is responsible for protecting the company's employees, visitors, property, equipment, and assets by maintaining a safe and secure environment.
The key duties include:
1. Control entry and exit of employees, visitors, contractors, and vehicles at the company gate.
2. Verify identity cards, visitor passes, and maintain visitor and vehicle registers.
3. Conduct regular patrols of the premises to prevent theft, trespassing, vandalism, or other security breaches.
4. Monitor CCTV cameras, alarms, and other security systems, and report any suspicious activity immediately.
5. Ensure that company property and materials are not removed without proper authorization.
6. Respond promptly to emergencies such as fire, medical incidents, accidents, or security threats, and inform the appropriate authorities.
7. Enforce company security policies, safety rules, and access control procedures.
8. Maintain discipline and order within the premises and assist in crowd control when required.
9. Check that gates, doors, windows, and restricted areas are properly secured.
10. Record all incidents, unusual occurrences, and daily activities in the security logbook and submit reports to the Security Supervisor or Management.
11. Assist employees and visitors by providing directions and general information when required.
12. Coordinate with management, emergency services, and law enforcement authorities whenever necessary.
13. Ensure fire safety equipment and emergency exits remain accessible and report any deficiencies.
14. Prevent unauthorized parking and regulate vehicle movement within the company premises.
15. Perform any other security-related duties assigned by the Company or Security Supervisor from time to time.
General Responsibilities:
Remain alert, vigilant, and courteous while on duty.
Wear the prescribed uniform and identity card at all times.
Maintain confidentiality regarding company operations and security matters.
Report to duty on time and hand over responsibilities properly at the end of each shift.
