Sales Manager – Job Description (JD)                      
Location: Nashik Office (Nashik Road, Above Passport Office
Department: Sales


Job Purpose

To lead and manage sales operations by developing effective sales strategies, ensuring market competitiveness through pricing and promotions, maintaining customer satisfaction, and supporting the organization’s growth through accurate reporting, analysis, and continual improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities & Deliverables

1. Accounting & Banking

·         Ensure accuracy and timely submission of all sales invoices.

·         Manage sales brokerage and commission payments, including annual finalization after resolving pending matters.

·         Resolve suspense account entries promptly and accurately.

·         Identify and onboard new customers to strengthen the client base.

·         Conduct successful negotiations to secure favorable business terms.
Key Focus: Timely resolution of suspense entries, new customer onboarding, and negotiation outcomes.

2. Sales Operations

·         Ensure accurate and timely booking of all sales orders.

·         Identify potential clients and maintain consistent follow-ups.

·         Coordinate closely with the production and dispatch teams for order updates and deliveries.

·         Achieve assigned production and sales targets within timelines.
Key Focus: Order accuracy, timely booking, client identification, and target achievement.

 

 

 

 

3. MIS Reporting & Data Analysis

·         Prepare and submit the monthly sales forecast and sales strategy for the next fortnight.

·         Develop improvement plans based on sales performance and implement them effectively.
Key Focus: Timely submission of forecasts and measurable effectiveness of improvement actions.

4. Market Evaluation & Strategy

·         Conduct regular competitor analysis and evaluate market trends to identify opportunities.

·         Provide accurate daily rate inputs to management for timely decision-making.

·         Develop and monitor pricing strategies to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
Key Focus: Accuracy of market analysis, timely rate updates, and measurable sales growth.

5. Marketing & Promotion Sales

·         Achieve monthly and annual sales targets consistently.

·         Clear old or odd stocks promptly.

·         Generate innovative marketing ideas and campaigns to boost brand visibility and sales.

·         Plan and execute promotional activities to increase customer reach and engagement.

·         Evaluate ROI and impact of promotional activities.
Key Focus: Innovation in marketing, conversion rates, and ROI of campaigns.

6. Lead Generation

·         Generate leads through offline channels such as Trade India and industry networks.

·         Share relevant and timely lead information with management and the team.

·         Convert qualified leads into active customers through follow-up and relationship management.
Key Focus: Number of leads generated, conversion ratio, and timeliness of information sharing.

7. Continual Improvement

·         Implement new sales strategies to explore untapped markets and customer segments.

·         Drive team performance improvements in Sales, Marketing, and Logistics functions.

·         Conduct customer satisfaction surveys and ensure prompt action on complaints or feedback.
Key Focus: Success rate of new initiatives, measurable team improvements, and customer satisfaction levels.

 

8. Professional Conduct, Manners & Etiquette

·         Maintain the highest standards of professional manners, appearance, and communication.

·         Uphold honesty, integrity, and ethical practices in every business transaction.

·         Demonstrate leadership through respectful and solution-oriented communication with clients, vendors, and team members.

·         Represent the company positively in all professional interactions and events.
Key Focus: Professional image, ethical conduct, and relationship-building effectiveness.

9. Outstation Sales Tour

·         Conduct one outstation sales tour every three months to expand business opportunities and strengthen client relationships.

·         Prepare a detailed tour plan one month in advance.

·         Discuss and take management approval at least one month before the planned tour.

·         Submit a post-tour report summarizing key visits, outcomes, and future action plans.
Key Focus: Adherence to schedule, advance planning, and productivity of sales tours.

 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

·         Achievement of monthly and annual sales targets.

·         Accuracy and timeliness of reporting and forecasting.

·         New customer acquisition rate and retention ratio.

·         Ethical conduct and professional communication.

·         Effectiveness and ROI of promotional and marketing activities.

·         Timeliness of outstation sales tour planning and approvals.


Required Qualifications & Experience

·         Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Business Administration, Sales, or Marketing.

·         7–10 years of proven experience in sales management.

·         Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.

·         Excellent manners, interpersonal etiquette, and leadership qualities.

·         Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
