Job Description: Business Development Manager – Exhibition Industry
A Business Development Manager (BDM) in the exhibition industry is responsible for generating revenue, building strategic partnerships, acquiring exhibitors and sponsors, and expanding the company's market presence through exhibitions, trade shows, conferences, and events.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales & Revenue Generation
Identify and acquire new exhibitors, sponsors, and partners for exhibitions and conferences.
Achieve sales targets for exhibition space, sponsorship packages, advertising, and delegate registrations.
Develop and implement sales strategies to maximize event revenue.
2. Client Acquisition & Relationship Management
Build and maintain relationships with corporate clients, industry associations, government bodies, and exhibitors.
Conduct regular meetings, presentations, and negotiations with potential clients.
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.
3. Market Research & Business Opportunities
Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments.
Identify new sectors, markets, and opportunities for launching new events or expanding existing ones.
Maintain a database of potential exhibitors, sponsors, and partners.
4. Sponsorship Development
Create customized sponsorship proposals and packages.
Negotiate sponsorship agreements and ensure deliverables are fulfilled.
Develop long-term partnerships with brands and industry stakeholders.
5. Exhibition Sales Management
Sell exhibition booths, branding opportunities, speaking slots, and networking packages.
Monitor sales pipelines and prepare regular forecasts and reports.
Coordinate with operations and marketing teams to ensure successful event delivery.
6. Networking & Industry Representation
Represent the organization at trade fairs, industry meetings, and networking events.
Build relationships with industry leaders, associations, chambers of commerce, and government agencies.
7. Reporting & Strategy
Prepare sales reports, revenue forecasts, and business development plans.
Track KPIs and recommend strategies to improve performance and profitability.
