Job Description

A Business Development Executive for a recruitment firm is responsible for acquiring new clients by identifying hiring needs, building relationships with potential companies, and managing the sales cycle from outreach to closing deals. Key duties include conducting market research, developing sales strategies, collaborating with internal teams, and tracking performance to drive the firm's growth. 

Key responsibilities

  • Client acquisition: Identify and prospect new clients, such as HR managers or hiring directors, to understand their talent acquisition needs through cold calling, networking, and email outreach.

  • Sales cycle management: Manage the entire sales process, including lead qualification, scheduling client presentations, negotiating contracts, and closing deals.

  • Relationship building: Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with new and existing clients to ensure customer satisfaction and continued business.

  • Market and competitive analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and challenges in the hiring market to effectively position the firm's services.

  • Strategy and reporting: Collaborate with marketing and internal teams to develop effective sales strategies. Prepare and present regular reports on sales metrics, progress, and market insights to management.

  • Internal collaboration: Work with other departments, such as the recruiting team, to ensure a smooth handover of new clients and to align on client requirements.

  • Client representation: Attend industry events, conferences, and client meetings to represent the company and generate leads. 

Skills and qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.

  • Experience: Proven experience in sales or business development, preferably in a recruitment or B2B services environment.

  • Communication and interpersonal skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.

  • Strategic thinking: Ability to develop and implement effective sales strategies.

  • Technical skills: Proficiency in CRM software and MS Office is often required.

  • Other traits: Strong networking abilities, project management skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
