Job Title: Business Development Manager
Reports to: Managing Director
Location: Mumbai (Work From Office / Client-facing)
Salary Range: INR 6 – 7 Lac per annum (fixed) + performance-linked variable
Experience: 3–6 years in B2B/B2C sales, insurance broking, corporate sales or related fields
Role Summary: You will be the MD’s frontline sales partner, accompanying the MD to client meetings, driving post-meeting follow-ups, converting prospects into clients and owning end-to-end deal closure. This is a high-impact role that requires a smart, client-first, ethical and results-driven individual who can convert relationships into revenue while ensuring complete compliance and excellent client experience.
Key Responsibilities:
· Attend client meetings with the MD, take structured notes, capture client needs and convert meeting outcomes into clear action items.
· Lead timely post-meeting follow-ups (proposal, documentation, pricing, clarifications) and own the deal-closure process.
· Qualify leads and maintain a healthy sales pipeline (CRM) - update statuses, next actions and expected revenue.
· Prepare client proposals, quotations and comparative analyses tailored to client needs.
· Coordinate with Ops, Claims, Accounts and Compliance for seamless onboarding and servicing of new clients.
· Source leads via personal network, industry events, associations, referrals and outreach campaigns.
· Maintain compliance with IRDAI/AML/KYC requirements during onboarding and sales.
· Achieve monthly/quarterly revenue and conversion targets; report weekly progress to the MD.
· Maintain and present short, clean post-meeting briefs and weekly/monthly sales reports.
· Act as a client relationship owner for assigned accounts until hand-over to Ops; ensure high NPS and renewal potential.
· Represent the company professionally at client sites, networking events and industry forums.
Essential KPIs:
· Number of qualified client meetings per month as per the target set.
· Pipeline value and conversion rate.
· Deal closure value per month / quarter (revenue target).
· Time from first meeting to onboarding (TAT target).
· Client onboarding accuracy (zero compliance lapses) and initial NPS / satisfaction metric.
· Follow-up speed - % of proposals sent within 48 hours post meeting.
· Referral / repeat rate from closed accounts.
(Exact numeric targets to be set mutually and reviewed quarterly.)
Desired Profile & Skills:
· 3–6 years in sales/business development in insurance broking, corporate sales or related sectors.
· Proven track record of closing B2B/B2C deals; experience working with senior CXO-level clients preferred.
· Excellent client-facing, presentation and negotiation skills; persuasive yet ethical.
· Strong organisation, note-taking and follow-up discipline.
· Familiarity with insurance products, investments (mutual funds, FDs, bonds) is an advantage.
· Basic understanding of KYC/AML and regulatory onboarding requirements.
· Comfortable using CRM tools, MS Excel, PowerPoint and Google Workspace.
· High personal integrity, customer empathy and result orientation.
· Comfortable travelling across Mumbai and beyond Mumbai.
· Good communication in English and Hindi / Marathi.
Compensation & Incentive Structure:
· Fixed pay: INR 6 – 7 Lac per annum.
· Variable / Performance pay:
o Deal Closure Commission: % of first-year revenue on each client referred and closed by you.
o Retention bonus: Additional reward for clients retained/renewed after year 1.
Variable/performance pay applicable to clients referred and onboarded by you. All incentives are subject to compliance, full payment upon client funds receipt and successful onboarding.
