A Storekeeper Inspection Officer ( Mechanical ) is responsible for managing , inspecting , and tracking mechanical inventory ( spare parts , heavy equipment , and tools ) . They ensure all items meet engineering standards , maintain optimal stock levels to prevent equipment downtime , and handle all warehouse logistics .
Key Responsibilities
1.) Material Inspection & Quality Control
Inspect incoming mechanical goods against purchase orders , drawings , and quality standards to verify specifications
Identify and document defective , damaged , or mismatched parts
Check for proper material test certificates and calibration reports before accepting stock
2.) Inventory & Stock Control
Accurately receive , categorize , label , and store mechanical equipment
Manage stock levels using inventory management software and conduct routine physical inventory audits to reconcile discrepancies
Implement preservation plans to protect sensitive mechanical parts from degradation
3.) Issuance & Dispatch
Issue mechanical items , parts , and tools to mechanics , engineers , and contractors based on approved requisitions
Enforce tool tracking systems to ensure all issued gear is returned at the end of shifts
Prepare and process delivery notes , gate passes , and shipping documents
4.) Safety & Compliance
Enforce strict health and safety regulations regarding the handling of heavy machinery and hazardous mechanical materials
Maintain a hazard - free , clean , and organized warehouse
Core Requirements
Education :- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical field
Experience :- Typically 2-5 years of experience in inventory control , warehousing or mechanical quality control . Ex-Army persons with similar experience are welcome .
Technical Skills :- Familiarity with mechanical drawings , part numbers , and basic engineering measuring tools
