Job Description: Duty Manager – PVR INOX Cinemas

Department: Operations
Location: PVRINOX (Vega City Mall)
Reports To: Cinema Manager


Job Purpose:

To oversee the overall functioning of the cinema during assigned shifts, ensuring operational excellence, guest satisfaction, and adherence to company standards across all departments — Box Office, Concessions, and Floor Operations.


Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management

  • Supervise the end-to-end functioning of cinema operations during the shift.

  • Ensure smooth show execution in coordination with the Technical/Projection team.

  • Oversee Box Office sales, F&B counters, housekeeping, and maintenance activities.

  • Manage cash reconciliation, daily sales reports, and ensure adherence to SOPs.

  • Monitor inventory control and coordinate with vendors or internal teams for replenishment.

Customer Service

  • Ensure a seamless guest experience with quick resolution of queries and complaints.

  • Handle VIP guests, special screenings, and corporate bookings efficiently.

  • Maintain a visible presence on the floor to proactively manage customer needs.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, motivate, and supervise Duty Officers, GSAs, and support staff.

  • Conduct shift briefings, training, and performance feedback sessions.

  • Ensure grooming, discipline, and behavior standards are maintained by all team members.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with FSSAI, fire safety, and operational hygiene standards.

  • Conduct regular safety audits, equipment checks, and emergency drills.

  • Maintain operational and incident reports with accuracy.

Reporting & Coordination

  • Coordinate with Technical, HR, and Finance departments for operational requirements.

  • Provide shift summaries and handovers to the Theatre Manager.

  • Contribute to achieving sales, cost control, and customer satisfaction targets.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Graduate (Any),Graduate in Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Experience: 3–6 years in hospitality, multiplex, or retail industry, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory/managerial role.

  • Skills:

    • Strong leadership and communication abilities.

    • Customer-centric approach with problem-solving mindset.

    • Proficiency in MS Office and POS systems.

    • Financial and operational acumen.

Department: Operations

Job Purpose:

To assist the Duty Manager in managing the cinema’s daily operations and ensuring smooth execution of shows, maintaining service standards, and providing excellent guest experiences.


Key Responsibilities:

Operational Support

  • Oversee Box Office, Concessions, and Floor Operations during assigned shifts.

  • Ensure show readiness — auditorium cleanliness, projector coordination, and guest comfort.

  • Manage ticketing and F&B counters to ensure efficiency and minimal wait times.

  • Monitor daily operations for adherence to PVR INOX SOPs.

Customer Service

  • Address guest concerns and feedback promptly and courteously.

  • Support in handling group bookings, special events, or private screenings.

  • Maintain a strong floor presence to ensure consistent service delivery.

Team Coordination

  • Supervise Guest Service Associates (GSAs) and coordinate shift schedules.

  • Ensure proper staff grooming, conduct, and performance during duty hours.

  • Provide assistance and guidance to new team members.

Safety & Compliance

  • Conduct regular auditorium and facility checks for safety and cleanliness.

  • Report any equipment malfunction, safety hazards, or incidents to the Duty Manager.

  • Ensure compliance with fire safety and hygiene protocols.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain shift reports, guest feedback records, and sales summaries.

  • Assist the Duty Manager in preparing end-of-day reports.

  • Support in managing cash handling and inventory control.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Graduate / Diploma in Hospitality, Management, or related field.

  • Experience: 1–3 years in hospitality, multiplex, or customer service environment.

  • Skills:

    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Basic knowledge of cinema or retail operations.

    • Customer handling and conflict resolution skills.

    • Computer literacy (POS and MS Office).
