The following is a list of major duties and responsibilities for this position Utility operator/technician
1. Inspects and performs preventative maintenance and emergency repairs to a wide variety of
mechanical and electronic equipment, e.g., disassembles, cleans, lubricates, and replaces equipment
parts as needed; makes minor mechanical repairs.
2. Monitors equipment and takes reading at designated intervals; tracks the status of the system and
prepares reports that account for equipment performance.
3. Records and reports defects or failures in gas, electricity, or water; immediately responds and
reports water and gas.
4. Performs laboratory water chemistry testing and chemical treatment for all systems.
7. Performs scheduled plant inspections, and records observations in the facility logbook.
8. Monitors system performance and starts and stops equipment as required.
9. Ensures the plant’s utilities are properly functioning to receive steam, chilled water, hot water,
compressed air, electricity, and gas.
10. Maintains corrosion protection, reduces scaling in boilers and ensures bacteria levels are
maintained at safe levels.
11. Responds and completes work orders; maintains daily shift production logs.
12. Operates and maintains the boilers, steam turbine, compressors, chiller, CLS system, RO water
system, Cooling Tower, and pumps to effectively run processes and equipment.
