An AC Technician is responsible for installing, inspecting, servicing, and repairing air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Their primary duties involve diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults, conducting routine preventive maintenance, and ensuring systems run efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Setup: Safely install, mount, and connect new air conditioning systems (e.g., split, window, and package units) according to project specifications and safety codes.)
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Inspect malfunctioning units, test electrical circuits (using a multimeter), and check refrigerant levels to identify the root cause of issues.
Maintenance & Servicing: Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks such as cleaning filters, washing coils, clearing drain lines, and lubricating fan motors.
Repairs: Replace damaged parts (like compressors, capacitors, and contactors), braze refrigerant lines, vacuum, and recharge systems with gas.
Documentation: Record job details, including parts used and service logs, and communicate effectively with clients to explain repair needs and estimated costs.
