AC Technician

An AC technician installs, maintains, and repairs air conditioning systems by diagnosing faults, replacing parts, and performing routine maintenance to ensure optimal system performance. Responsibilities include inspecting units, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, complying with safety standards, and documenting service work. Key qualifications are a high school diploma, technical training or certifications (like EPA 608), experience, and strong diagnostic and communication skills

Key Responsibilities

• Installation: Install new air conditioning units and associated ductwork. 

• Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance, including cleaning filters and coils, to ensure system efficiency and longevity. 

• Diagnostics: Inspect and diagnose AC systems, identifying malfunctions, faulty components, or performance issues using technical manuals and schematics. 

• Repair: Repair or replace defective components such as compressors, motors, fans, and thermostats. 

• Compliance: Ensure work meets all safety and industry standards and follow local building codes. 

• Customer Service: Communicate effectively with clients, explaining system issues, repairs, and providing estimates for work and parts. 

• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of service calls, inspections, and repairs.
