Job Title: Fire Safety Helper / Fire Watcher

Reports to: Fire Suppression Technician / Site Foreman
Job Summary:
The Fire Safety Helper is responsible for identifying fire hazards in the workplace, monitoring "hot work" (welding, cutting), assisting with the installation of fire protection equipment, and conducting preliminary inspections under supervision.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Hot Work Monitoring: Patrol areas where welding, cutting, or spark-producing work is performed to detect fire hazards.
Equipment Maintenance & Inspection: Assist with inspecting fire extinguishers, hoses, hydrants, and emergency lights.
Emergency Response: Ready to use fire extinguishing equipment (extinguishers, hoses) and alert firefighters in the event of a fire.
Material Handling: Assist technicians with loading/unloading tools, materials, and components for sprinkler system installation.
Site Safety: Ensure work areas are clear of flammable materials and maintain safe escape routes.
Documentation: Assist with daily logs, inventory tracking, and inspection documentation.
Support: Follow instructions from lead technicians, aiding in the installation, repair, and testing of fire suppression systems.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience: Previous experience in construction, labor, or fire safety is preferred, but not always required (entry-level).
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand/walk for long periods, work in confined spaces, and lift heavy objects (50–100+ lbs).
Technical Aptitude: Basic understanding of tools and safety procedures.
Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to follow strict safety protocols, and good communication skills.
Work Environment
This position often works in industrial plants, construction sites, or commercial buildings.
May involve shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays to cover "hot work" periods.
Must be comfortable working under strict supervision.
