A Neuro ICU Nurse provides specialized critical care to patients with severe neurological conditions such as traumatic brain injuries, strokes, spinal cord injuries, seizures, and post-neurosurgery cases. They monitor neurological status, manage life-support systems, administer medications, and respond rapidly to changes in patient conditions. The role requires expertise in neuro-assessment, ventilator management, and critical care protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and assess neurological status using GCS, pupil checks, and ICP monitoring.
Administer medications, including sedation and anti-seizure drugs.
Manage ventilators, IV drips, and other critical care equipment.
Collaborate with neurosurgeons, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams for patient care.
Provide pre- and post-operative care for neuro patients.
Document patient status, interventions, and response accurately.
Educate patients and families about treatment plans and recovery expectations.
Maintain infection control and patient safety standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
Registered Nurse (RN) license with ICU experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of neuroanatomy and critical care principles.
Excellent critical thinking, communication, and decision-making skills.
Ability to perform under pressure in fast-paced environments
