Staff Nurse

1.       Proper handling and taking over of patient from bed to bed in each shift.

2.       Making admission and discharge of patient.

3.                Assist doctors in medical examination and treatment of patient.

4.       Identifying nursing need of patients and treatment needs and carrying out the task identified .

5.       Giving care to patient as instructed by Sr. Sister / Doctor.

6.       Maintain personal hygiene and comfort of patients.

7.       Provide clean and safe environment for patient.

8.       Taking care of nutritional needs of the patients.

9.       Escorts patients to and fro from the departments.

10.   Impart health education to the patient and their relatives.

11.   Taking rounds for patient care and required duties with doctors and senior nursing staff (officers)

12.   Provide pre and post operative care.

13.   Maintaining record (account) of Narcotics and Poisonous drugs.

14.   Maintenance of patient records

15.   Follow nursing protocols and assist in Billing Process.

Perform technical tasks:

a)       Administration of medication, oxygen, recording of vital signs.

b)       Assisting in transfusion.

c)       Preparation for surgery of patient

d)       Giving stomach wash

e)       Giving of enema / bowel wash

f)        Catheterisation of patients.

g)       Care of breast and Perineum.

h)       Baby care

i)        Care of dying and death etc.

j)        Application of the surgical dressing.

k)       Preparation and administration of tube feeding.

l)        Care pf eyes, ears, tracheostomy / mouth / airway / back / all body parts.

m)     Changing of position to prevent bed sore.

n)       Assisting in Physiotherapy

Administration

1.       Look after the work of ward boys / ayas.

2.       Look after the work of ward sister / ward master / in his /her absence and incharge sister.

3.       Ensure equipment etc. in working condition.

4.       Assist Incharge sister in maintaining inventories / good working environment.

5.       Ensure adequate supplies for Nursing care round the clock.

6.       Ensure cleanliness in patient area / infection control / observe universal precaution.

Teaching

1.       Participate in staff education                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             

2.       Help orientation of new staff

3.       Teach and guide Junior Sister / House Keeping / Other staff etc.
