Staff Nurse

The Scrub Nurse is a vital member of the surgical team, responsible for maintaining a sterile environment in the operating room and directly assisting the surgeon during surgical procedures. The Scrub Nurse prepares instruments, ensures equipment is functional, and hands surgical tools to the surgeon as needed, playing a crucial role in patient safety and successful surgical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare the operating room by setting up sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment.

• Scrub, gown, and glove in accordance with sterile techniques.

• Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and supplies.

• Monitor the sterility of the surgical field and alert the team to any breaches.

• Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after the procedure to ensure nothing is left inside the patient.

• Assist with dressing wounds and transferring patients to recovery.

• Maintain and update surgical instrument inventory.

• Collaborate with circulating nurses and other surgical staff to ensure smooth operations.

• Adhere strictly to infection control and patient safety protocols.
