The School Nurse promotes the health and well-being of students and staff by providing medical care, health education, and preventive services within the school setting. This role ensures compliance with health regulations and supports a safe learning environment.
🩺 Health Services
Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff.
Manage chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes) and administer prescribed medications.
Maintain accurate health records and immunization documentation.
📋 Health Screenings & Assessments
Conduct vision, hearing, and scoliosis screenings.
Monitor student health trends and identify potential outbreaks.
🧠 Health Education & Counseling
Educate students on hygiene, nutrition, mental health, and wellness.
Counsel students on health-related issues and refer to specialists when needed.
🛡️ Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with local and national health regulations.
Develop and implement school health policies and emergency response plans.
🤝 Collaboration
Work with teachers, parents, and administrators to support student health.
Coordinate with public health agencies and community resources.
Registered Nurse (RN) license; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
Certification in school nursing (varies by region).
CPR and First Aid certified.
Experience in pediatric or community health is a plus.
Strong clinical and assessment skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
