Position Summary

The School Nurse promotes the health and well-being of students and staff by providing medical care, health education, and preventive services within the school setting. This role ensures compliance with health regulations and supports a safe learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• 🩺 Health Services

  • Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff.

  • Manage chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes) and administer prescribed medications.

  • Maintain accurate health records and immunization documentation.

• 📋 Health Screenings & Assessments

  • Conduct vision, hearing, and scoliosis screenings.

  • Monitor student health trends and identify potential outbreaks.

• 🧠 Health Education & Counseling

  • Educate students on hygiene, nutrition, mental health, and wellness.

  • Counsel students on health-related issues and refer to specialists when needed.

• 🛡️ Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with local and national health regulations.

  • Develop and implement school health policies and emergency response plans.

• 🤝 Collaboration

  • Work with teachers, parents, and administrators to support student health.

  • Coordinate with public health agencies and community resources.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.

• Certification in school nursing (varies by region).

• CPR and First Aid certified.

• Experience in pediatric or community health is a plus.
