Staff Nurse Job Description
An ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Staff Nurse is responsible for providing critical care to seriously ill or unstable patients who require constant monitoring and advanced medical support.
Main Responsibilities
Patient Care
Monitor critically ill patients continuously
Check and record vital signs (BP, pulse, oxygen levels, temperature)
Administer medications, injections, and IV fluids
Assist doctors during emergency procedures
Provide ventilator and oxygen support care
Maintain patient hygiene and comfort
Medical Procedures
Operate ICU equipment such as:
Ventilators
Cardiac monitors
Infusion pumps
Defibrillators
Insert and manage IV lines and catheters
Collect blood and other samples for testing
Assist in CPR and emergency resuscitation
Documentation
Maintain accurate patient records
Prepare nursing notes and treatment charts
Report patient condition changes to doctors
Coordination & Communication
Coordinate with doctors and healthcare teams
Educate patient families about treatment and care
Handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently
Skills Required

Qualification
B.Sc Nursing / GNM Nursing
Valid nursing registration certificate
ICU experience preferred (0–5 years depending on hospital)
Working Conditions
Rotational shifts (day/night)
Emergency duty
High-pressure environment
Long standing hours
