Job Description

Nursing staff responsibilities center on providing direct patient care, including assessing conditions, administering medications, monitoring vitals, and performing treatments, while also educating patients/families, collaborating with doctors, managing records, and ensuring safety and hygiene in the clinical environment, essentially serving as the link between patients and the broader healthcare team. Core Patient CareAssessment: Observing, recording, and reporting changes in patient condition, vital signs (temp, pulse, respiration, BP). Medication: Administering drugs, injections, IVs, and infusions as prescribed. Treatments: Performing procedures like wound care, catheterization, oxygen therapy, and assisting with diagnostic tests. Hygiene & Comfort: Ensuring personal hygiene, feeding helpless patients, and maintaining a clean, safe environment. Emergency Care: Treating injuries and responding to acute or critical situations. Coordination & DocumentationCare Planning: Contributing to and implementing patient care plans. Collaboration: Working with doctors, specialists, and other healthcare professionals. Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate, up-to-date patient medical records and documenting all care. Shift Handoff: Managing patient information transfer between shifts. Patient & Family SupportEducation: Teaching patients and families about illnesses, treatments, home care, and preventative measures.Advocacy: Championing patient rights and ensuring their needs are met. Hospital Operations & LeadershipWard Management: Organizing supplies, ensuring equipment works, and supervising support staff. Supervision: Overseeing junior nurses, students, and ancillary staff. Risk Management: Identifying hazards and contributing to health and safety programs.
