The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. This includes assessing patient needs, planning and implementing nursing interventions, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout their stay.
Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients as per the doctor’s orders and nursing care plan.
Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients’ conditions.
Administer medications, injections, and IV fluids accurately and on time.
Assist doctors during rounds, examinations, and procedures.
Maintain patient hygiene, comfort, and dignity at all times.
Perform routine procedures such as dressing, catheterization, IV cannulation, and vital signs monitoring.
Prepare and maintain patient care equipment and assist in minor and major procedures.
Ensure proper documentation of patient records, nursing notes, and reports.
Handle emergency situations promptly and efficiently (e.g., CPR, trauma care).
Maintain inventory of medicines, equipment, and supplies in the ward.
Ensure proper handover between shifts.
Adhere to hospital policies, infection control, and biomedical waste management guidelines.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Coordinate with doctors, allied health professionals, and other staff for comprehensive patient care.
Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding care and discharge instructions.
Report incidents or safety concerns to the Nursing In-charge.
Participate in in-service training and continuing education programs.
Support junior nurses and nursing students during clinical training.
