General Duty Assistant (GDA)
The General Duty Assistant provides support to nursing and medical staff by ensuring patient comfort, assisting in basic healthcare tasks, and maintaining hygiene and safety in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, or home-care setups. This role is essential for smooth patient care operations.
Assist nursing staff with patient care activities such as feeding, bathing, grooming, dressing, and mobility support.
Help in shifting and transporting patients within the facility.
Monitor and record patient vitals (temperature, pulse, respiration) under supervision.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of patient rooms, beds, and surroundings.
Provide bedpan/urinal and assist with toileting needs of patients.
Support in collecting samples for lab tests as instructed.
Assist during medical procedures by arranging equipment and materials.
Ensure proper disposal of biomedical waste as per protocols.
Communicate patient needs to nursing staff and report any changes in condition.
Offer emotional support and companionship to patients, especially elderly or critical care cases.
Education: Minimum 8th/10th pass; preference to candidates trained in GDA under NSDC skill programs.
Certification: GDA training certification (optional but preferred).
Experience: Fresher or 6–12 months in healthcare setup.
