Position: Baby Care / Japa Caregiver

Work Location: Client’s Home

Working Hours: As per agreement (Full-time / Part-time / Live-in)

Reporting To: Mother / Family Member / Supervisor

1. Job Purpose

To provide safe, hygienic, and compassionate care for the newborn and mother, ensuring recovery, routine establishment, and emotional support during the postnatal period.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Newborn Baby Care

Bathing, massaging, and dressing the baby safely.

Changing diapers and maintaining hygiene.

Preparing formula or assisting in breast-feeding support.

Monitoring baby’s sleep routine and comforting the baby.

Burping the baby after feeding.

Cleaning feeding bottles, sterilizing utensils, and maintaining hygiene.

Observing baby’s temperature, crying pattern, and general health.

Noting any unusual symptoms and informing the family immediately.

B. Mother (Postnatal) Care

Supporting the mother with personal hygiene if required.

Preparing postnatal (japa) meals as instructed (if included in duties).

Performing mother’s massage (only if agreed).

Assisting with mobility and rest routines.

Ensuring a calm environment for mother’s recovery.

C. Household Support (Optional / As Discussed)

Light cleaning around the baby’s area.

Washing baby clothes separately.

Keeping baby essentials organized.

Maintaining cleanliness of mother-baby room.

3. Skills & Qualifications

Experience in newborn or postnatal care.

Basic knowledge of hygiene, breastfeeding support, and baby safety.

Ability to handle newborns gently and confidently.

Knowledge of japa massage techniques (if required).

Patience, empathy, and good communication skills.

Preferably trained as ANM/GNM or has certified newborn care training (optional).

Hygienic and disciplined.

Non-smoker, non-alcohol use.

Respect for family privacy and routines.

5. Daily Work Routine (Example)

Baby bath & massage – as per schedule

Mother massage – if included

Baby feeding assistance & burping

Baby sleep monitoring

Cleaning baby bottles & essentials

Light room cleaning

Preparing simple japa meals (if required)

Night duty care (if included)

6. Do’s & Don’ts

Wash hands before touching baby

Keep baby area clean

Maintain calm behavior

Record baby’s routines (sleep, feeding, diapers)

No shouting, perfumes, or strong smells

No visitors or phone use during duty hours

No unsafe traditional practices without family approval
