The Fire Alarm System Service Engineer is responsible for the installation, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of fire alarm systems and related life safety equipment. The role ensures systems comply with local codes, safety standards, and manufacturer specifications.
Install, configure, and commission fire alarm systems including panels, detectors, modules, sounders, and notification devices.
Perform system programming, integration with other safety systems (BMS, Access Control, Sprinkler Systems, etc.).
Ensure proper wiring, device placement, and adherence to design drawings.
Conduct routine preventive maintenance and inspections.
Respond to service calls to diagnose system faults, alarms, and failures.
Replace defective components and perform system upgrades.
Perform functional testing of fire alarm systems as per NFPA, local authority regulations, and company standards.
Prepare test reports, maintenance logs, and compliance documentation.
Ensure systems meet fire safety codes and certification requirements.
Provide on-site technical support and guidance to customers.
Communicate findings, recommendations, and system conditions clearly to clients.
Train end users on system operation when required.
Maintain accurate service records, job sheets, and checklists.
Submit service reports and system status updates to management.
Assist in preparing quotations for repairs and system improvements.
Diploma/Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or related field.
Certifications in fire alarm systems (e.g., Notifier, Honeywell, Siemens, Edwards, GST, EST, Morley) preferred.
Knowledge of NFPA standards (especially NFPA 72).
1–5 years of experience in installation, maintenance, or servicing of fire alarm and life safety systems.
Experience with troubleshooting electronic control systems.
Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and as-built drawings.
Familiarity with various fire alarm control panels (addressable & conventional).
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of network-based fire alarm systems is an advantage.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and safety compliance.
Willingness to travel and work on-call when required.
Ability to lift equipment

Ability to work in confined spaces when necessary.
