A 4-Wheeler Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining petrol/diesel vehicles. The mechanic must be skilled in engine work, electrical systems, routine servicing, troubleshooting, and ensuring high-quality workmanship.
Inspect vehicles to identify mechanical and electrical problems.
Use diagnostic tools (OBD scanner) to detect error codes.
Perform road tests when required.
Perform routine services: oil change, filter change, coolant check, brake service, battery testing, etc.
Inspect and replace worn-out parts.
Maintain service records as per company standards.
Repair and overhaul engines, clutches, gearboxes, suspensions, and steering systems.
Fix issues related to brakes, axles, and differentials.
Handle vehicle breakdowns and perform on-spot repairs (if required).
Troubleshoot and repair alternator, starter motor, wiring faults, and sensors.
Resolve issues related to ECU, ABS, and other electronic systems.
Ensure repairs meet workshop safety and performance standards.
Conduct final inspection before delivering the vehicle to the customer.
Explain vehicle issues and repair work to customers (if required).
Provide accurate estimates for repair costs and timelines.
Work with service advisors, supervisors, and other mechanics.
Follow workshop SOPs and safety guidelines.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Strong knowledge of petrol/diesel engine systems
Experience in mechanical and electrical diagnosis
Familiarity with OBD scanning tools
Ability to handle workshop tools and equipment
Good problem-solving skills
Time management and teamwork abilities
Understanding of modern vehicle systems (ABS, Airbags, Fuel Injection)
1–5 years of workshop experience
Freshers with ITI can also be considered
₹12,000 – ₹20,000 per month (depending on experience)
