Read and interpret fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and material specifications. Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, beveling, or cleaning surfaces. Measure and mark materials according to design requirements. Perform welding using SMAW, MIG, TIG, FCAW. 6G position. Join metal components such as beams, plates, pipes, brackets, frames, and structures. Ensure correct welding parameters like current, voltage, travel speed, and electrode selection. Fabricate assemblies, frames, supports, and structures as per drawings. Inspect welded joints for defects such as porosity, cracks, undercut, or incomplete fusion. Conduct basic NDT checks like visual inspection (VI), dye penetrant testing (if trained). Ensure welds meet dimensional tolerances, strength requirements, and quality standards. Follow all welding-related safety procedures: PPE, fire prevention, hot work permits, ventilation. Handle gas cylinders, welding machines, and consumables safely. Ensure proper earthing/grounding of welding equipment. Adhere to site safety rules and participate in toolbox talks. Assist in layout marking, fit-up, tack welding, and jig/fixture setup. Collaborate with fabricators, fitters, and engineers for a smooth workflow. Support material handling, alignment, clamping, and pre-heating where required. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Dispose of scrap metal and welding residues properly. Ensure tools and equipment are returned to their designated locations.
