JOB DESCRIPTION:

Typically outlines the responsibilities of a skilled tradesperson who both fits and welds metal components, often in a manufacturing or construction setting. This role involves preparing metal pieces, welding them together, and ensuring the finished product meets specifications. 

Key Responsibilities of a Fitter & Welder:

• Fitting and Assembling: Laying out, positioning, and aligning metal parts according to blueprints and specifications. 

• Welding: Joining metal components using various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, stick welding). 

• Fabrication: Creating or repairing metal structures and equipment. 

• Reading Blueprints: Interpreting technical drawings and schematics to understand project requirements. 

• Quality Control: Inspecting welds and assemblies for accuracy, fit, and adherence to quality standards. 

• Tool and Equipment Usage: Operating and maintaining welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools. 

• Safety: Adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean work environment. 

Examples of Tasks:

• Preparing metal components by cutting, shaping, and fitting them.

• Using welding torches, arc welders, or other welding equipment.

• Inspecting welds for quality and accuracy.

• Repairing damaged structures and parts.
