ARGON/TIG WELDER-CUM-FITTER

Urgent Requirement – Immediate Joining Preferred

1. Company Details

2. Position Summary

FEPL Engineering Pvt. Ltd. urgently requires a skilled and experienced Argon/TIG Welder-cum-Fitter for precision stainless-steel welding, sheet-metal fabrication, piping, tubing, equipment fabrication, fitting and assembly.

The candidate must be capable of independently reading fabrication drawings, taking measurements, carrying out marking and fit-up, and completing high-quality Argon/TIG welding with minimum supervision.

The selected candidate must also be willing to travel and stay at customer sites anywhere in India whenever required for installation, modification, repair, commissioning or project work.

3. Eligibility Criteria

Age: 22 to 35 years

Experience: Minimum 3 to 4 years of relevant practical experience

Candidates with more than 4 years of relevant experience are also encouraged to apply

ITI qualification in Welder, Fitter or a related trade is preferred

Experienced non-ITI candidates possessing excellent practical skills may also apply

Experience in stainless-steel fabrication and Argon/TIG welding is mandatory

Ability to read and work from fabrication drawings is mandatory

Candidate must be willing to undertake workshop as well as site work

Candidate must be willing to travel and stay at customer sites whenever required

Preference will be given to candidates available for immediate joining

4. Salary

₹35,000 to ₹40,000 per month Gross, or higher depending upon the candidate’s relevant experience, practical skills and performance in the welding and fabrication test.

The final salary will be decided based on:

Total relevant experience

Quality of Argon/TIG welding

Stainless-steel fabrication skills

Ability to weld thin-gauge stainless-steel sheets

Knowledge of fitting, marking and measurement

Ability to read fabrication drawings

Ability to work independently

Quality and finishing of completed work

Experience in industrial equipment, piping and skid fabrication

Readiness to travel and undertake customer-site work

Exceptional candidates with strong independent working capabilities may be considered for a higher salary.

5. Required Welding Skills

The candidate must have practical experience in:

Argon/TIG/GTAW welding

Stainless-steel welding, particularly SS304 and SS316

Welding of stainless-steel sheets, plates, pipes and tubes

Welding of thin-gauge stainless-steel sheets without burn-through or excessive distortion

Butt joints, fillet joints, lap joints, corner joints and groove joints

Pipe and tube welding in different positions

Proper selection and use of tungsten electrodes and filler rods

Correct setting of welding current, gas flow and other welding parameters

Proper control of arc length, heat input, weld penetration and welding speed

Preparing edges, joints, bevels and root gaps before welding

Maintaining proper fit-up, alignment and root gap

Producing clean, uniform, strong and visually acceptable welds

Producing leak-free welded joints wherever required

Preventing welding defects such as porosity, cracks, undercut, lack of fusion, excessive penetration and distortion

Cleaning, grinding, polishing and finishing welded surfaces

Rectifying defective or unacceptable welds

Maintaining proper shielding-gas protection during welding

Basic knowledge of MIG and ARC welding will be an added advantage

6. Fabrication and Fitting Skills

The candidate should be capable of carrying out:

Stainless-steel sheet-metal fabrication

Cutting, marking, measuring, drilling, grinding, fitting and assembly

Accurate fit-up and tack welding of fabricated components

Fabrication of stainless-steel cabinets, panels and enclosures

Fabrication of tanks, frames, supports and equipment assemblies

Fabrication and assembly of industrial skids

Fabrication and fitting of stainless-steel pipes and tubes

Preparation and installation of pipe supports

Alignment and assembly of mechanical and fabricated components

Checking squareness, diagonals, level, alignment and dimensional accuracy

Assembly of fabricated components according to approved drawings

Identification and rectification of dimensional and fabrication defects

Surface cleaning, grinding, buffing and finishing

Assistance in hydrotesting, leak testing and equipment testing wherever required

Installation, modification and repair work at the workshop and customer sites

7. Engineering Drawing and Measurement Skills — Mandatory

The candidate must be able to:

Read and understand fabrication drawings

Read and understand assembly drawings

Understand basic piping and isometric drawings

Identify different views, sections and component details

Understand dimensions, tolerances and weld symbols

Understand material specifications and component identification

Read and follow Bills of Materials and cutting lists

Identify individual components from drawings

Carry out marking, cutting, fit-up, welding and assembly according to approved drawings

Calculate and verify basic dimensions before fabrication

Take accurate measurements using measuring tape, steel rule and vernier caliper

Use try-square, spirit level, straight edge and other measuring instruments

Check alignment, squareness, level, diagonals and finished dimensions

Compare completed work with the approved drawing

Identify drawing or dimensional discrepancies before starting fabrication

Immediately report unclear or conflicting drawing details to the concerned engineer or supervisor

Independently execute routine fabrication work from approved drawings with minimum supervision

The candidate’s ability to read and work from fabrication drawings will be tested during the practical selection process.

8. Tools and Equipment Knowledge

The candidate should be comfortable operating and handling:

Argon/TIG welding machines

MIG and ARC welding machines, wherever required

Welding torches, tungsten electrodes and filler rods

Argon cylinders, regulators and flow meters

Angle grinders and polishing machines

Cutting machines and chop saws

Drilling machines

Bench grinders

Gas-cutting equipment, wherever applicable

Hand tools and fabrication tools

Clamps, jigs, fixtures and vices

Measuring tape, steel rule and vernier caliper

Try-square, spirit level and straight edge

The candidate will be responsible for using all tools and equipment carefully and maintaining them in proper working condition.

9. Key Duties and Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

Carrying out Argon/TIG welding according to approved drawings and instructions

Fabricating high-quality stainless-steel industrial components and assemblies

Studying the drawing and planning the work before starting fabrication

Verifying material, dimensions and component details before cutting

Carrying out accurate marking, cutting, fit-up and tack welding

Ensuring correct alignment and dimensions before final welding

Completing fabrication work within the assigned time schedule

Maintaining proper welding sequence to minimise distortion

Checking completed welds and rectifying defects before offering the job for inspection

Maintaining high standards of workmanship, accuracy and surface finish

Avoiding unnecessary material wastage, rejection and rework

Coordinating with engineers, supervisors, fitters and other workshop personnel

Assisting in equipment assembly, testing, dismantling and reassembly

Assisting in packing, loading and unloading of fabricated equipment

Carrying out installation, modification and repair work at customer sites

Keeping welding machines, tools and accessories in proper working condition

Informing the supervisor about material shortages or equipment problems

Reporting drawing discrepancies before proceeding with the work

Maintaining workshop cleanliness and proper housekeeping

Following FEPL’s quality, safety and work instructions

Carrying out other welding, fabrication, fitting and assembly work assigned by management

10. Quality Responsibilities

The candidate must ensure:

Welding is performed according to the required quality standards

Correct material and filler rod are used for each job

Components are properly cleaned before welding

Joint preparation and fit-up are correct

Welds are clean, uniform and free from visible defects

Required dimensions and tolerances are maintained

Stainless-steel surfaces are protected from contamination

Completed work is checked before offering it for inspection

Any defect is immediately reported and rectified

Rework, rejection and material wastage are minimised

Finished components are handled carefully to prevent scratches and damage

11. Customer-Site Work and Travel Requirements

The selected candidate must:

Be willing to travel to customer sites anywhere in India as and when required

Be willing to stay at the project site for the required duration

Carry out welding, fabrication, installation, modification and repair work at site

Work inside refineries, petrochemical plants, fertiliser plants and other industrial establishments, subject to applicable safety requirements

Follow customer-site safety, security and permit-to-work procedures

Use the prescribed personal protective equipment

Coordinate with FEPL engineers and customer representatives

Maintain proper behaviour and discipline while representing FEPL

Take proper care of FEPL’s tools, machines and materials at site

Work additional hours during shutdowns, commissioning or urgent project requirements when necessary

Accurately report completed, pending and additional site work

Avoid leaving the site or assigned work without proper permission

12. Safety Responsibilities

The candidate must:

Use a welding helmet, welding gloves, safety shoes, goggles and other required PPE

Follow safe practices while handling welding machines and electrical cables

Ensure proper earthing before starting welding work

Safely handle Argon cylinders, regulators, flow meters and gas lines

Ensure adequate ventilation during welding and grinding

Keep combustible materials away from the welding area

Follow hot-work permit requirements at customer sites

Safely operate grinders, drilling machines and cutting equipment

Maintain welding cables, holders, torches and tools in safe condition

Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment or accidents immediately

Follow FEPL and customer-site safety instructions at all times

Maintain proper housekeeping around the work area

13. Required Personal Qualities

Skilled and confident in practical Argon/TIG welding

14. Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo:

Personal interview

Practical Argon/TIG welding test

Thin-gauge stainless-steel welding test

Fabrication and fitting test

Engineering drawing-reading test

Marking and measurement test

Tool-handling and safety assessment

The practical test may include:

Reading a fabrication drawing

Identifying components and dimensions

Marking and cutting material

Carrying out fit-up and tack welding

Completing an Argon/TIG welded sample

Checking the finished dimensions

Demonstrating grinding and finishing quality

Final selection and salary will be based on the candidate’s experience, practical performance, welding quality, fabrication ability, drawing-reading skills, discipline and readiness for site assignments.

  • Reporting Time: 8:45 AM

  • Regular Working Hours: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM

  • Daily Work-Report Submission: 6:00 PM to 6:15 PM

  • Normal Leaving Time: 6:30 PM

  • The employee must report by 8:45 AM and be fully prepared to commence work at 9:00 AM.

  • Submission of the daily work report between 6:15 PM and 6:30 PM is a mandatory part of the employee’s regular duty.
