OB DESCRIPTION – WELDER
Position: Welder
Department: Operations / Engineering
Location: As per site requirement
Reporting To: Site Supervisor / Facility Manager
1. Job Purpose
To perform welding, fabrication, repair, and maintenance activities safely and efficiently while ensuring quality workmanship and compliance with site safety standards.
2. Key Responsibilities
Perform MIG, TIG, Arc/Stick or Gas welding as per job requirements and skill level.
Read and understand basic drawings, measurements, welding symbols, and work instructions.
Carry out welding, cutting, grinding, fabrication, and repair work on metal structures, equipment, pipes, frames, gates, railings, and other components.
Inspect welded joints and fabricated structures to ensure proper alignment, strength, and finishing.
Operate welding machines, cutting equipment, grinders, and other hand/power tools safely.
Select appropriate welding rods, wires, gases, and other consumables according to the nature of the job.
Conduct repair and maintenance welding work as instructed by the Site Supervisor / Facility Manager.
Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in clean and safe working condition.
Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, hot-work permits, and fire-safety guidelines.
Ensure proper handling and storage of welding cylinders, gas equipment, electrodes, and other materials.
Report defective equipment, unsafe conditions, material shortages, or technical issues to the supervisor immediately.
Coordinate with technicians, electricians, plumbers, fitters, and other site staff whenever required.
Complete assigned jobs within the specified timeline while maintaining required quality standards.
Maintain proper housekeeping after completion of welding/fabrication work.
Perform any other welding, fabrication, repair, or maintenance-related duties assigned by the management.
3. Required Qualifications & Experience
ITI / Diploma in Welding or relevant technical qualification preferred.
1–5 years of relevant welding experience preferred.
Candidates with practical experience in welding and fabrication may also be considered.
Knowledge of welding safety procedures and basic tools/equipment.
Ability to understand measurements and basic technical instructions.

5. Safety Responsibilities
Mandatory use of appropriate PPE, including welding helmet, gloves, safety shoes, protective clothing, and eye/face protection.
Follow hot-work permit procedures wherever applicable.
Ensure availability of appropriate fire extinguishing arrangements before starting hot work.
Prevent sparks, flames, and hot materials from creating fire or safety hazards.
Never operate defective welding equipment or cylinders.
Immediately report any accident, near miss, or unsafe condition to the supervisor.
