Job Title: CNC/VMC Operator & Setter
Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled CNC/VMC Operator & Setter to operate, set up, and monitor CNC/VMC machines for the production of precision components. The ideal candidate should be able to interpret engineering drawings, perform machine setup, ensure product quality, and maintain a safe and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC/VMC machines according to production requirements.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and process sheets.
Load and unload raw materials and finished components.
Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and work-holding devices.
Set machine offsets, tool lengths, and work coordinates.
Perform first-piece inspection and in-process quality checks using measuring instruments.
Monitor machine performance and make necessary offset adjustments.
Ensure components meet dimensional and quality specifications.
Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.
Report machine breakdowns, tooling issues, and quality concerns to the supervisor.
Follow production schedules, safety standards, and company procedures.
Maintain proper production and inspection records.
Practice 5S and maintain a clean, safe work area.
Required Skills
Knowledge of CNC/VMC machine operation and setup.
Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T (preferred).
Familiarity with measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and dial indicators.
Basic understanding of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and machining parameters.
Strong attention to detail and quality.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualification
ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field.
Certification in CNC machining is an added advantage.
Experience
Operator: 1–3 years of experience in CNC/VMC machine operation.
Setter: 3–5 years of experience in CNC/VMC machine setup and process optimization.
Preferred Knowledge
Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or Haas CNC controls.
Tool offset setting and tool life management.
Basic CNC programming knowledge is an advantage.
Lean manufacturing and 5S practices.
Working Conditions
Rotational shifts as per production requirements.
Ability to stand for long periods and handle machine-related tasks.
Compliance with all safety and PPE requirements.
