Turner (Lathe Machine Operator)
Job Summary:
A Turner is responsible for setting up and operating lathe machines to produce precision parts as per technical drawings and specifications. The role requires attention to detail, machining knowledge, and quality control skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate conventional or CNC lathe machines to manufacture components
Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
Set up machine tools, select cutting tools, and adjust machine settings
Perform operations like turning, drilling, threading, and facing
Measure finished parts using instruments (vernier caliper, micrometer, etc.)
Ensure components meet required tolerances and quality standards
Maintain machines and perform basic troubleshooting
Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work area
Skills Required:
Knowledge of lathe machine operations
Understanding of mechanical drawings
Basic knowledge of cutting tools and materials
Measuring and inspection skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Problem-solving ability
Qualification:
ITI (Turner/Machinist) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Experience: 1–5 years (depending on role level)
