Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day tool room operations and manpower.
Plan and monitor preventive maintenance of press tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
Ensure timely repair and breakdown support for production tools.
Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Maintenance departments to minimize downtime.
Develop and improve tooling for productivity enhancement and cost reduction.
Monitor tool life and maintain tooling records.
Ensure availability of tools as per production requirements.
Supervise tool trials, modifications, and new tool development activities.
Control tool room inventory, consumables, and spare parts.
Implement 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives in the tool room.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
Train and develop tool room technicians and operators.
Required Skills:
Strong knowledge of Sheet Metal Press Tools and Die Maintenance.
Expertise in Progressive, Compound, and Blanking Dies.
Knowledge of Tool Design, Tool Development, and Tool Troubleshooting.
Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.
Knowledge of CNC Milling, VMC, Surface Grinding, Wire Cut EDM, and Conventional Machines.
Team management and leadership skills.
Problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems.
Qualification:
Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Engineering, or related field.
Experience:
8–15 years of experience in Tool Room operations within the Sheet Metal Industry.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a managerial role.
