The General Manager – Operations (Solar EPC Projects) will be responsible for leading, planning, and executing utility-scale and distributed solar EPC projects from concept to commissioning. The role involves end-to-end operational leadership, including engineering, procurement, construction, quality, safety, timelines, cost control, and client satisfaction. The GM will be accountable for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and as per technical standards and regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and oversee execution of Solar EPC projects (Solar Water Pumping Projects, Ground-mounted/Rooftop, Grid-connected/Hybrid Solar Power Plants).
• Develop detailed project plans, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery as per contractual obligations.
• Drive resource allocation, project scheduling, and milestone tracking.
• Ensure adherence to MNRE, DISCOM, and state nodal agency guidelines.
• Establish project management systems, SOPs, and best practices for smooth operations.
• Conduct regular project review meetings with internal teams and clients.
• Implement strong MIS and reporting systems for management.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team comprising engineers, site managers, procurement, logistics, and contractors.
• Mentor and groom project managers, engineers, and site staff for operational excellence.
• Manage coordination between design, procurement, and field execution teams.
• Oversee vendor supply chain management for timely delivery of modules, inverters, Solar pumps, controllers structures, and balance-of-system (BOS) items across different warehouses and finally to sites.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with the operations involved in the distributed solar implementations like Solar water Pumping Systems
• Liaise with government departments and DISCOMs, for release of payments post request submission
Desired Candidate Profile
Education:
• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Mechanical / Civil Engineering (preferred) or a Graduate in Commerce.
• MBA (Operations/Project Management) preferred.
Experience:
• Minimum 10 years of experience in project management, with at least 6-7 years in Solar EPC / Renewable Energy Projects.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering distributed solar EPC projects.
• Strong exposure to government tenders, MNRE schemes, and DISCOM projects.
