Job Summary:
The Store Keeper is responsible for managing and maintaining inventory, ensuring proper storage of goods, and overseeing the receipt and dispatch of materials. The role involves keeping accurate records, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring the store area is organized and secure.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive, inspect, and verify incoming goods against purchase orders or invoices
Store materials properly to prevent damage or loss
Maintain accurate records of stock levels, including inventory logs and stock registers
Issue materials as per requisitions and ensure proper documentation
Conduct regular stock checks and physical inventory audits
Monitor stock levels and report shortages or excess stock to management
Ensure cleanliness, safety, and organization of the store area
Coordinate with procurement and other departments for smooth material flow
Label and categorize items for easy identification and retrieval
Handle damaged or expired items according to company policies
Required Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (additional certification in inventory management is a plus)
Proven experience as a storekeeper or in a similar role
Knowledge of inventory management systems and basic computer skills
Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities
Attention to detail and accuracy
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting and moving stock
Working Conditions:
Work is typically performed in warehouses, stores, or stockrooms
May require standing for long hours and handling heavy items
